KDP Banned Me for Being Too Woke – So Welcome to the Babushka Universe on Substack!
Where badass lesbian grandmothers fight to survive at the edge of a broken world (and corporate censorship can go shove it).
Well, that happened. My Amazon KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) account was banned. Why? Apparently, they weren’t too keen on the whole “badass lesbian grandmothers struggling to survive at the edge of a post-apocalyptic wasteland” concept. Too woke, I guess? Who knew?
Despite Amazon's travesty with Rings of Power, I honestly didn't think this would be an issue. Sure, my take on a world without men is intentional in its irony—it's not some grand veneration of an all-female AI-worshipping doomsday cult. But here we are. Seems like their AI has taken it upon itself to harass me for no reason, automated emails and all. It really makes you wonder what's in store for us in the future with this kind of "super-intelligent" nonsense. I digress.
This isn’t even the first time a company has ghosted me—my olive oil company got its bank account terminated earlier this year, after being a customer for four years. They sent one email, gave me 30 days, and that was it—no assistance, no recommended alternatives, nothing. Just...poof. I even had to fly to Chicago to open a new bank account in person. But I made that work, and I’ll make this work too. It’s frustrating how little effort companies put into supporting their customers these days.
But anyway, I’m here now! Welcome to Babushka: The Substack Edition, where I’ll be posting every chapter of my Babushka books for free. Honestly, I should’ve done this from the start. Now I can deliver straight to you—unfiltered, unbanned, and without the middleman.
For those who prefer a more polished reading experience (or just want to support my work in a different way), I’ll have ePub, PDF, and other formats available for purchase on my website. And if you feel like it, you can also become a paid subscriber right here on Substack!
As for KDP? They can keep their creativity-crushing nonsense. We’re here for the art and the story—not their crony capitalist monopoly.
